Installing Skype from the Repository

While installing my new laptop, I noticed that Skype was a featured item in the Software Center.  So, here’s my new installation steps for Skype…

Searching for Skype in the software center shows this:

Instead of the normal install button, we get a “Use This Source” button.   It happens quite quickly (at least on a good Internet connection), but once it finished processing, it showed me the install button.

The cool part is that I believe this is the latest version:

My hope is that since I have installed this from the repository, that it will keep me up to date.  We’ll see.

Finally, I restored my ~/.Skype directory from my old laptop.  Since I did that even before I installed Skype, it logged in automatically and was ready to go with all my chat history on the first run.
